FAQs!

What is a co-op?

A co-op (short for cooperative) is voluntarily owned by the people who use it, and operated for the benefit of its members. For more details on how co-ops function, visit our blog!

What stage are you at?

The Farmington Food Co-op incorporated in June of 2025. The Board of Directors has been working since March of 2025 to get the doors open! Currently we are under contract to purchase the BLC. We hope to be in full operation by April. While the business itself will be under new ownership (community owned), it’s important to know that this is not a new business. Our goal is to be a community grocery store that is owned and operated by the community for the community.

When will it be open?

The BLC will transition into the community-owned Farmington Food Co-op in the spring of 2026. Be sure to sign up for our email list to stay up to date!

Where does my donation go?

All donations go directly to startup costs. Consultants, posters, the website, all the things we need to get started! Every dollar counts!

How does membership work?

A lifetime membership is $150. If that cost is a barrier we also offer a $50 option and other options on a case by case basis. You can buy your membership now if you wish, but they won't go into effect until after we have closed on purchasing the BLC! Many more details and perks and volunteer opportunities to come!

Do I have to be a member to shop?

Everyone is welcome to shop at the co-op! However, if you are a member we keep track of your purchases and if the company profits at the end of the year, you could too!
